The Northern General hospital in Sheffield (UK) had an urgent requirement to install a fire suppression system in one of their stores where they hold the general waste from the hospital until the refuse collection company comes along and removes it from the site.
The problem was that the store is located alongside a major corridor linking two buildings and the Local Authority Building Inspector insisted that a fire suppression system be installed immediately as it posed a threat to both the building, the staff, patients and visitors. The problem was exacerbated by limited funds being available in the budget. DD Fire Alarms were able to install DSPA generators into the bin store to protect the premises both quickly, because they could integrate them with the Hospital’s existing fire detection and alarm system, and within budget, because there was no expensive pipe work to install.
